As I write this the Mets are 7 games in front of the NL East division. Tomas Nido has been great defensively and solid offensively. And the hope is that McCann will eventually get around to going above the Mendoza line. That said, bringing up Alvarez now is unnecessary and would put too much pressure on the kid anyway. For now, he can wait till 2023.
