They say a manager really only makes a difference for a handful of games during a long, 162-game season, but I don’t necessarily believe that. Girardi was always my 1st pick for our new manager. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Brodie Van Wagenen made the right decision in hiring Carlos Beltran instead of Joe.

Rick Porcello Signs New Deal with Mets
Surprising, considering that they just picked up Michael Wacha yesterday and will now have 6 starters. So with Porcello on board, will they look to trade Matz and/or Dominic Smith? Or perhaps, Brandon Nimmo? For a top-notch reliever? I guess, we’ll have to wait and see.
Mets Sign Cardinals’ Pitcher Michael Wacha To 1-Year Deal
Wacha as our 5th starter is fine by me. He’s young, won a playoff MVP, has a mean change-up and when healthy can be top-notch guy in the rotation. Plus, I’d prefer Wacha over Rick Porcello, who the Mets were also thinking about to replace Zach Wheeler. Now if we can be smart and sign Dellin Betances for our bullpen, that’d really be nice.
Hot Stove on Mets’ Hiring of Hensley Meulens as Bench Coach
I was kind of hoping that Joey Cora would get the job…but oh well.

Should the New York Mets Trade for Starling Marte?
I say no. Marte is a pretty solid hitter with some pop and a very good and experienced CF. But I believe Cespedes will play in 2020 and if so they could play Conforto in CF with McNeil in right. J.D. Davis had a big year last year and should be given every chance to be our Opening Day 3rd baseman with Rosario at SS, Cano at 2nd and Alonso at 1st.
Mets Reportedly Select Carlos Beltran as Manager
Shocking considering the Mets front office’s past tumultuous relationship with Beltran (and the fans as well). But with Omar Minaya on board as far as the decision-making, the Mets Latino contingent and Beltran having been a star Hispanic player, maybe he can motivate the likes of Cespedes to play a full season, much less get Edwin Diaz back to form, etc. I’m really curious as to who’s going to be Carlos’ bench coach, what with him having zero managerial experience and all.
Should The Mets Take A Look At Buck Showalter?
Joel Sherman at The New York Post seems to think so. I like Showalter’s many years of experience in the game, he has a few Manager of the Year’s under his belt as well as 3 division tiles and I would damn well prefer Showalter over Tim Bogar, Carlos Beltran or any of the other interviewees left. Yeah, please give Buck a call.
Yet Another Met Fail As Phillies Sign Joe Girardi
Here we go again, the best manager available on the market and we can’t get him. To make matters worse, he signs with our division rival Phillies. I’ll tell you what: whoever Brodie Van Wagenen does hire, they go up or down together.
