He’s getting a lot of flak online for his demeanor in this interview, but I’m not mad at him. Simply put, the Mets have given him shot after shot and he just hasn’t produced. So what he’s supposed to be, all smiles and cupcakes? He should be upset. And I’m sure that he knows he has to play better to get on the big stage and stay there. The Mets have a long and notorious history of draft busts, but J.D. Martinez was only signed to a 1-year deal and it’s not too late for Vientos to comeback, turn it around and be part of the future with the Mets.

Gotta love how driven Alvarez is and his defense as well as handling of the pitching staff is above par. Now if he can hit about .240 to .250, cut down on the strikeouts and hit 30 HRs, he’ll give the Mets a shot at a wildcard berth this year.

As their roster stands right now, I think the 2024 Mets will win at most 70 games. That said, it’s still nice to see Edwin Diaz back and healthy again as I expect our closer to perform at his usual sublime level and save 30 to 35 games this season.

Possibly keeping Darin Ruf, sending down Baty, a couple of 40yo pitchers leading the rotation…if this team gets off to slow start then Steve Cohen can only blame the GM.
