Say what you want about the Yankees organization, one thing sure: they’re always willing to spend money to help their team win.
The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Jarred Kelenic, pitcher Marco Gonzales and infielder Evan White from the Seattle Mariners on Sunday night for right-handed pitchers Cole Phillips and Jackson Kowar.
The move added a veteran lefty to the Braves pitching staff, along with Kelenic, who at one time was one of baseball’s top young prospect.
In the process, Seattle cleared a chunk of salary off its payroll, giving up on Kelenic in order for the Braves to take the contracts of Gonzales and White.
Seattle is sending Atlanta cash as part of the trade.
Kelenic actually had his first decent year in the majors last season. And of course, now that he’s a Brave, he’ll probably win the MYP in 2024 because yunno, we’re jinxed like that.
Not calling up Mauricio, giving up on Vientos so soon and more…they really gave up their entire season for Daniel Vogelbach.

Escobar had a great September in 2022, provided excellent defense at 3rd and from what everybody has said, was a great clubhouse guy and teammate. But with Baty on the team, Escobar still struggling offensively and this season on the brink of being over, it made absolute sense to trade him now.
Miguel Castro could be frustrating at times, but all in all he had a good 2021 and I’m sorry to see him go. We definitely needed some lefty relief tho and Rodriguez will give us that.

With options on the free-agent starting pitching market thin, the Mets on Saturday opted for a trade. In another “win now” move, the team acquired right-hander Chris Bassitt from the Athletics for pitching prospects J.T. Ginn and Adam Oller, sources confirmed. The move gave the Mets their second new rotation piece, joining Max Scherzer.
Bassitt, 33, went 12-4 with a 3.15 ERA in 27 starts last season, which included his first career All-Star appearance.
This is definitely a ‘win now’ move because Bassist is in his walk year, which while giving him extra motivation to pitch well in 2022, doesn’t bode well for the Mets longterm. Either way, this trade relives me of my biggest concern which was acquiring a quality 3rd starter and makes me more excited for the season.
Pretty surprising move. But hey, if Brodie Van Wagenan thinks we still have a chance this season and he’s not giving up too much of our future to try, then I’m all for it.
With their pitching staff under siege by injuries, the Mets worked the trade market for relief.
The Mets acquired Wilmer Font from the Rays on Monday for a player to be named later, The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed.
With relievers Jeurys Familia (shoulder soreness), Luis Avilan (elbow soreness) and Justin Wilson (elbow soreness) all on the injured list, and starters Steven Matz (nerve irritation) and Jason Vargas (hamstring) potentially joining them there, Font will provide depth and versatility.
The 28-year-old righty had a 5.79 ERA in 10 appearances with the Rays this season — four of which were multi-inning outings — while striking out 18 and walking five.

Scouting report says while Davis can crush minor league pitching, he can’t hit a lick in the majors. Oh yeah, he’s a below average 3rd baseman defensively who can pitch too.
The Cleveland Indians have replenished their bare catching cupboard.
After trading top prospect Francisco Mejia and All-Star catcher Yan Gomes last year, the Indians had a void behind the plate and filled it Sunday by acquiring catcher Kevin Plawecki in a trade with the New York Mets.
The three-time defending American League Central champions sent right-hander Walker Lockett and infielder Sam Haggerty to New York for Plawecki, who played in 78 games — 64 starts — for the Mets last season. Plawecki batted .201 with seven homers and a career-high 30 RBIs.
Considering all the times Travis d’Arnaud was on the DL over the years, Kevin Plawecki was given many an opportunity to make a mark and become the Mets starting catcher and for various reasons it just never happened. Guess we’ll find out soon enough if we were better off keeping Travis instead of Kevin as backup.
Broxton is readily known for his defense, not his offense…at all. Could mean the Mets are doen with Juan Lagares.
