I’m on record stating that the Mets made a big mistake not bringing back Seth Lugo and putting Colin Holderman in that Vogelbach trade. Granted the offense has been anemic so far this year, but then too I was always wary of relying on two 40-something starters to lead our rotation. Bottom line, we’re just bad right now, Mark Canha needs to go, Carlos Carrasco doesn’t seem to be in any rush to come back and who knows what’s going on really with Matt Scherzer and Starling Marte. Yeah ummm, 17-18 and 7 games out of 1st place and can’t even beat teams we’re supposed to be better than? Time to call up the kids.

Mets Lose Out On Kris Bryant
Third baseman Kris Bryant and the Colorado Rockies are in agreement on a seven-year, $182 million contract, sources confirmed to ESPN on Wednesday.
Bryant is headed to his third team in eight months after spending his first six major league seasons with the Chicago Cubs, who traded him to the San Francisco Giants last July.
Acquiring Bryant for even 1 year would’ve put the Mets over the top and I really thought Steve Cohen would pull it off. But 7 years for a guy who be past his prime was clearly asking for too much.
Mets Need To Get To and Stay Above .500
Nice series win over the Rockies. But if the Mets are serious about winning this year, it’s time we win more series, get above .500 and make a real run at winning the division. So a split of this brief Yankees series won’t be enough, let’s win two.
