Ryan Clark Calls Lamar Jackson The First “Authentic” Black Quarterback

16 Mar

I’m aware that Clark just signed a new ESPN deal. And he’s certainly doing a great job at going viral and keeping his name in the news with all the fire’s he’s been starting lately, whether that’s with Tiki Barber or other sport pundits. But opining from the experience of being a former NFL player and just utterly failing to do your research and saying something stupid is another. Like calling Lamar Jackson the first “authentic” Black QB when past legends like Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick, Warren Moon, Patrick Mahomes and Doug Williams have played the game?!? Really Ryan, do better.

Shannon Sharpe Needs To Ignore The Haters

9 Mar

Honestly, I never even watched Sharpe’s now-infamous and highly viewed Katt Williams interview. And that’s just because I’ve never been that interested in what Katt Williams has to say. That being said, ever since the Katt interview it’s pretty clear that Sharpe has gained a lot in both popularity and haters. Especially from online trolls, messy/lying comedians and former professional athletes who seem to be really envious of Sharpe’s rising success. And while Sharpe has every right to clap back at all of them. The NFL Hall-of-Famer would be wiser to ignore them, keep doing what eh’s been doing and keep counting that paper.

Eric Bieniemy Taking The UCLA Offensive Coordinator Job Is Really Not A Big Deal

27 Feb

Honestly, I don’t think this is as a big deal as SAS and others are making it out to be. Because, simply put, not everything is about race–which is what SAS tried to attach to Bieniemy in the first place. And that’s certainly not the coach’s fault. Bieniemy, for whatever reason, could be such a bad interviewee that he decided to quit attempting to get head coaching jobs, stick it out as an offensive coordinator instead, still get paid handsomely and take the OC job that best fits him, whether that’s in the NFL or college football. Shoot, as we’ve seen time and time again, some coordinators are just meant to be coordinators.

Travis Kelce Yells & Bumps into Andy Reid on Sidelines after Chiefs Fumble

12 Feb

Some NFL players talking about ‘If it was me’ so-and-so would’ve happened might be correct. But that’s still a hypothetical and doesn’t change the fact that this incident is still overblown imo. Kelce is a passionate guy who wants to win and be in the damn game. Sure it looked bad on TV, but I like the professional athlete who plays with passion. Because to me it shows you care and aren’t just playing for a paycheck and Kelce, who is a huge part of the KC offense, had only one catch for one yard up until that point, so he had a right to be upset. Either way the Chiefs won the damn game, Reid and Kelce expressed love for each other after the game and I’m all for a 3-peat.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated . . . for a 3rd Time

5 Feb

This is his 3rd DWI offense which is a third degree felony, meaning he spend 10 years in jail. Granted, he’s a grown-ass man, but if I’m his uber-rich son I’d insist on paying for a car and driver so he’s never behind the wheel again…seriously. Of course too, it’s extra sad that this happens as Patrick Jr. prepares to play in another Super Bowl in a week.

Jameis Winston Was Wrong and Right at the Same Time

8 Jan

Were Winston and his teammates wrong for flouting their coach’s directives? Undoubtedly so, as Winston openly conceded and extended apologies to Dennis Allen in the post-game aftermath. However, Winston had a good point too when he was asked by someone in the media after the game if all the critics would’ve thought that the Saints were “running up the score” if the guy who made the last-minute interception hadn’t been caught at the 1-yard line, with his team already up 41-17 and ran it in for a touchdown. I highly doubt it. Then too, tho he was still wrong, I believe Winston was totally sincere in wanting to get a TD for Jamaal Williams. Plus too, Falcons coach Arthur Smith got fired after the game anyway and anyone calling for Winston to be fired for this overblown drama, needs to have their head examined.

Ryan Clark Eviscerates Kimberly Martin’s Lame/Personal Attack on Cam Newton

17 Dec

I watch enough of ESPN’s “First Take” with Stephen A. Smith and co. and tell you that Kimberly Martin clearly doesn’t belong on TV. She clearly does little to no homework on topics, totally wings it through segments and is only there to provide eye candy. But dare to criticize her and you’ll be called ‘sexist’ or ‘racist’ (or both) by the usual politically-correct, name-calling heads who don’t offer much of anything else (but nonetheless get paid handsomely for it). Either way, good job by Ryan Clark here defending Cam Newton (a former NFL MVP) as way more than just a guy who wears funny hats on his podcast.

Josh McDaniels’ Firing Strengthens the Legacy of Tom Brady

1 Nov

Josh McDaniels

Yesterday’s firing of overrated Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels (marking the second time he’s faced such a swift, mid-season exit), embodies a peculiar irony in the world of professional football. It underscores the ephemeral nature of success in the sport, where just being associated with eminence can both elevate a defensive or offensive coordinator to God-like status (‘Hey, he worked under Bill Belichick, therefore he must be great too!’) and cast them down as mere mortals, their hubris exposed. It’s also a reminder that even in a game known for its strategic intricacies, the art of leadership remains a delicate balance, where hubris can turn a celebrated guru into a fleeting comet in the gridiron’s ever-shifting constellation and where we don’t appreciate the greatness that was Tom Brady enough.
